Originally created as a way to use the leftovers from a celebratory roast, Sheppard’s pie is the perfect dish to make with all those Thanksgiving leftovers. This dish is easily made with no additional cooking (except to heat the dish up) using everything you have leftover.
The best part is, you can throw just about anything you want in this pie!
Mashpot Turkey Shepherd’s Pie
Preheat over to 425°F
• Combine leftover peas, carrots, green beans (any vegetable you have) with leftover turkey and gravy in a baking dish. You could also use leftover roast chicken, duck or goose.
• Spread a thick layer of mashed potatoes over the top. Swirl the top of the potatoes with the back of a spoon to make pretty little peaks.
• You can brush the top with a beaten egg, or sprinkle with cheese. Have any crispy onion strings leftover? They’re amazing sprinkled over the top!
• Bake until the top is golden brown. About 25-30 minutes.
