Nursing Moms Get A Tax Break!

Wonderful news on the mom front: nursing moms are now getting a new tax break from the IRS for breast pumps and other breastfeeding supplies.

This same proposal was rejected last year by the IRS because they didn’t think breastfeeding had enough benefits to be classified as “medical care.” But the American Academy of Pediatrics and other breastfeeding advocates fought for the proposal, citing the many long-lasting health benefits of breast milk.

Today, the IRS has changed their mind and will now allow moms to count the cost of breastfeeding supplies as a medical deduction. This is great news, considering breastfeeding moms can spend $1,000+ per year on pumps and supplies!

Do you breastfeed? About how much would you say you spend on supplies in a year?
