Outrageous: Congress Deems Pizza A Vegetable!?

To the detriment of our children, but in favor of food corporations, Congress passed a bill yesterday that says pizza can be classified as a vegetable and will remain on school lunch menus.

The catch—the bill allows pizza to be counted as a vegetable because it contains tomato paste.

The bill dealt a blow to the war on childhood obesity and has raised many eyebrows as to who Congress is really working for.

The bill was requested by food companies that produce frozen pizzas for schools, the salt industry and potato growers—big surprise! The real surprise is that Congress believes they can get away with calling pizza a vegetable.

While some conservatives in Congress say the federal government shouldn’t be telling our children what to eat at school, we ask: shouldn’t we as parents have a say in what our children eat at school?

What do you think?
